For someone who didn’t really know the story, the details of what happened really interested me
Narrative
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, the American sports team is forced to follow a hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. All the performances are compelling, the comedy is in all the right places, and the pacing and length don’t leave you looking for the exit before the check-out begins.
They did a good job of not telegraphing the plot points
Some might find the lack of change of scenery tiring, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was your world and that you felt like they were there for this stressful day.
It makes you think, without being preachy
They did a good job of touching on the political and emotional elements. The mixing of footage from the actual event, including broadcast footage, definitely draws you more into the experience.
A nice touch
While it’s not a film I really plan on watching more than once, it’s a very well-made piece that I would recommend to friends who like these kinds of films.
