Narrative
In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler lands a high-level job for which she is ill-suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both the American and British governments to allow them to use real locations as filming locations for the series, including the fledgling American embassy (at Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Britain allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, an honor rarely granted to a film or screen production, especially for an American.

Although it is accurately described as the largest residential property in London (11 hectares) besides Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming. The characters are phenomenally written and everyone is somewhat of a mystery. His dialogue is quick and convincing, and the plot unfolds in chaotic political directions.
It felt like The Night Agent, but much better
It doesn’t have a strong tone like other similar shows. I’d like to compare it a bit to House of Cards, but it doesn’t fit. It has a touch of Successio, but it doesn’t quite fit either.
He is good at his job, so no one is worried about his behavior
I see reviews complaining about the lead actor and his sloppy looks and rude behavior, but that’s his business! “They want people in power who don’t *want to be in power*.” Kate is focused on the mission and the issue where her life is at stake. What he wears, how he looks and even when he sleeps are secondary to the main mission.
I really hope we see a second season
I found his style to be a perfect fit for the story and it was a refreshing change. The best thing about the series is the relationships they all have with each other. It’s rare that I like all the characters in a series, but that was the case with this one.
